Frederick City has a Mayor and currently a five-member Council. The Mayor holds executive power over the city and the five council members share legislative power over the entire city. 

Frederick City is currently in an election, as of October 2025. The role of Mayor remains unchanged, but the next City Council will have seven-members - five representing specific districts and two representing the entire city. Both current and potential elected officials are listed

Frederick County has a County Executive and a seven-member Council. The County Executive holds executive power over the county, and the seven council members - five from specific districts and two representing the entire city - hold legislative power.  Frederick County will be holding an election next year in 2026.
