Frederick for Justice in Palestine is a group of local Frederick City and County residents organizing and fighting for a free Palestine.

Our Vision:

FJP vision is a just and peaceful world where every person is treated with fairness and dignity, in sustainable balance with the planet we share.

(1) Advocate for lasting justice and peace for Palestine.

Support Divestment at USM

The genocide complicit USM Board of Regents are meeting at UMB ballroom for their monthly public meeting. This meeting comes RIGHT AFTER the USM Student Council victory where we passed divestment and will be introduced to the board IN THIS MEETING! We need to pack the room and support the students and faculty speaking in favor of divestment! This is the same board of regents that is actively gentrifying Baltimore. Just because school is out of session doesn’t mean our humanity takes a break! Let’s wear our kuffiyehs and support the students!

Why Does Palestine Matter to Frederick?

Taking funds from our local communities - City of Frederick residents have paid over 5.2 million in federal taxes to fund Israel’s war machine and thus actively contribute to genocide/apartheid in Palestine while their fellow citizens struggle with healthcare and food costs.
Legislation needs to represent the interest of the people - State and Federal government representatives are actively passing legislation to further fund Israeli military actions. These government officials should represent the interests of the people. By passing a ceasefire resolution, a message will be sent to our representatives showing that Frederick residents do not agree with this.
Local boycotts of Israeli products - Israeli made products are sold here in Frederick county. The purchase of these products directly funds Israeli interests. By adopting a ceasefire resolution we are paving the way to make BDS practices possible on a local level.
Solidarity with communities - Join other jurisdictions across the United States and world in denouncing Israel’s actions.
Local ICE enforcement linked to IDF practices - The training ICE officers receive has a direct link to the practices of the IDF. Tactics used on Palestinians to stifle dissent is now being implemented in the United States. (Reference)
Zionist rhetoric endangers local Jewish communities - Conflation of Zionism and anti-semitism increases the risk of violent attacks on our local Jewish community.
Budgets are a gauge of morality - What we choose to fund is a direct reflection of who we are as a community.
Hold governments accountable to their own laws - The Leahy Law prohibits military assistance to foreign security forces who commit human rights violations with impunity. Israel has never been denied military assistance despite its ongoing genocidal actions against Palestine.

More About Frederick for Justice in Palestine:

Since April 2024, community members have been attending and testifying at City and County Council Public meetings to urge our local governing bodies to join the growing call for a permant ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the US Complicity in the ongoing Gaza Genocide. Formerly known as Frederick Ceasefire Now, Frederick for Justice in Palestine (FJP) has met with members of each governing body to try and work on resolutions to pass at a local level. Despite listening and promises for follow-ups or letters of endorsement, only 1 City Council Member was brave enough to introduce a resolution in August of 2025 but could not get a second to support adding it to the agenda.

Below you will find the FJP drafts provided to each body which, unfortunately, have chosen not to act on our call to action. Still we persist! We know this is the right and moral thing to do, for Frederick City to join the other over 170+ juristictions across the Nation advocating for an end to our complicity and financial support of the Genocide in Gaza. FJP Co-drafted this Ceasefire Document with one of our local Frederick City Council members in May and June of 2025. It was broadened from our initial draft to denounce militarism in general and call for an end to U.S. involved violence globally, including in Gaza and Palestine.

This is FJP's original Ceasefire Resolution from May of 2024. Most of the demands made in this document are still valid requirements of a meaningful, lasting peace, though the language we used to describe those demands has evolved over the course of this genocide.
