Under the 1948 UN Genocide Convention, genocide includes acts committed “with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.”
Acts include: (1) Killing members of the group (2) Causing serious bodily or mental harm (3) Inflicting conditions of life calculated to destroy the group
In January 2024, the ICJ found that South Africa’s case is plausible and ordered Israel to prevent genocidal acts which Israel has not followed, instead continuing to commit war crime after war crime funding by our US tax dollars. And this is not just limited to Gaza, but the West Bank as well faces annexation and settler violence with international calls from the ICJ calling for the immediate halt to these plans.
The US has vetoed multiple UN Security Council ceasefire resolutions, shielding Israel from international accountability and providing billions in military aid to Israel annually (e.g., weapons, bombs, and missiles used in Gaza) include 6.4 Billion alone under Trump. All this done in the violation of our own Leahy Laws.
